What is bizSAFE, and which level do you need?

bizSAFE is Singapore's national workplace safety programme. It's a ladder: companies climb from Level 1 up to the top, which is Star.

Level 3 is the tender minimum, your Risk Management Plan is audited. Level 4 adds a full safety management system. Star is the highest, your whole system is audited against SS 506 / ISO 45001. We guide you to whichever level you need.

Why companies climb the ladder

  • Level 3 is required for most government tenders
  • Main contractors ask for it before they hire you
  • Level 4 & Star win larger, premium contracts
  • Shows clients and staff you take safety seriously
Simply put: the higher your level, the more business doors open in Singapore.

Good to know

Common questions

Which bizSAFE level do I actually need?+
For most companies, Level 3 is enough, it covers government tenders and main-contractor work. Level 4 and Star are for firms chasing larger or premium contracts. Not sure? Tell us your goal and we'll point you to the right level.
What's the difference between Level 3, 4 and Star?+
Level 3 means your Risk Management Plan is audited. Level 4 adds a full workplace safety management system. Star is the top, your whole system is audited against SS 506 / ISO 45001. Each builds on the one before.
How long does it really take?+
Level 3 is usually 2–4 weeks with us. Level 4 and Star take longer (a few months) because the safety system is bigger. On your own, even Level 3 often drags to 3–6 months.
Do I need to finish Levels 1 and 2 first?+
Yes, the levels are in order, you can't skip ahead. But we can run the lower levels in one smooth engagement on the way to the level you need.
How long is the certificate valid?+
Three years. Before it expires you renew with an updated plan and a (usually quicker) renewal audit. We help with that too.
What if we fail the audit?+
The auditor lists what to fix and you get a follow-up audit. It's exactly why we run a mock audit first, which is how we keep first-time pass above 95%.
Is bizSAFE compulsory?+
Not by law for every company, but in practice Level 3 is required to bid for government tenders and to work under main contractors. Without it, you lose access to a lot of work.
What documents do we need to prepare?+
Mainly your Risk Management Plan, hazard and risk assessment forms, training records and emergency procedures. We draft all of these for you, tailored to how your company actually works, never generic templates.
