Who ISO 9001 is for
Built for the work you need to win.
Singapore SMEs usually need ISO 9001 when a government tender, MNC procurement team or main contractor makes certification a pre-qualification requirement. It can also support supplier renewal when a buyer asks for a certified Quality Management System.
Tendering businesses
For construction, engineering, facilities and service businesses asked to show a certified Quality Management System.
Manufacturing and precision work
For teams that need consistent quality controls before buyers place or renew orders.
Marine and offshore supply chains
For suppliers working where ISO 9001 is a standard procurement requirement.
Growing service teams
For service teams that need a clear way to record customer requirements, assign work and show what was completed.
Before we quote. Send your business activity, headcount, target certification date and any tender or customer requirement. After a short call or site visit, you receive a written quote and realistic project timeline.
ISO 9001 certification process
Build evidence before the two audits.
We start with the work that sits inside the certificate scope, identify the ISO 9001 gaps, then build and use the system with your team before the certification body's two audit stages.
- Gap analysis
- Build the system with your team
- Internal audit and fixes
- Stage 1 audit (certification body)
- Stage 2 audit
- Certificate
- 01Confirm the scope
We review sales, purchasing, delivery and customer follow-up. You confirm the activities, sites and legal entity that need to appear on the certificate, plus the tender or buyer deadline.
- 02Close the gaps
We compare your existing documents and records with ISO 9001:2015. You nominate owners for the actions; we set out what each owner needs to approve or put into use.
- 03Build and use the QMS
We agree the documents needed for your scope, then write them around the work your people do. Your staff use the agreed records in normal work so the audit file shows the system in practice.
- 04Internal audit, then Stage 1 and Stage 2
We complete the internal audit and management review, work through findings with you, and brief the people the certification body may interview. The independent certification body reviews the system at Stage 1 and audits how it is used at Stage 2.
ISO 9001 deliverables
Documents, trained people and records for the audit.
For the certificate scope, you receive the documents your people need to run the QMS, training for the relevant team and records ready for audit sampling. We agree the document list after the gap analysis, based on your activities, sites and customer requirements.

For a Singapore SME, the typical first-year total is $4,500 to $9,000, including certification body fees, with ZES ISO 9001 implementation consultancy from $2,288. Your final fee depends on headcount, certification scope and the documents already in place. We provide a written quote after a short call or site visit.

ISO 9001 audit preparation
What we check before the auditor arrives.
The certification body is independent from ZES. At Stage 1 it reviews whether the system is ready; at Stage 2 it samples your records and speaks with staff about how the process is used. Before those audits, we check the points below with you.
The scope matches the business
Your certificate scope, process map and documents cover the activities you actually carry out for customers.
Customer requests are recorded from quote to change
We check that a customer request, accepted quotation or order, and any change can be followed through the records your team uses.
People know their responsibilities
Roles and authorities are clear, and the people the auditor speaks to can explain their part of the process.
Records show the system is in use
The system has evidence from normal work, such as controlled documents, service records, reviews and corrective actions.
Internal audit and management review are complete
Your team has checked the system before the certification body does, recorded findings and reviewed performance.
The audit plan is clear
Your team knows what Stage 1 and Stage 2 cover, who needs to be available and what records the auditor may ask to see.

Case study: one system across an acquired group
An electronics manufacturer acquired a three-company group with more than 50 distributors in Singapore. Each company had its own ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certificates and management system.
Everything was digital, yet each company used different forms. Some forms existed in several versions, some years old. Numbering was inconsistent, with no version control and no single place for the current form.
We reviewed the documents and systems with the staff. Staff were reluctant to change, as each team was used to its own way of working. We listened to their concerns and worked out the shared rules with the department heads of each company. Those meeting rounds took around three months before implementation began.
We set common numbering and version rules and put the current forms in one place. We trained around 40 staff, from accounts and HR to operational management.
After around three months of meetings, ZES Consulting merged three companies' ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems into one integrated management system in Singapore in a further three months. The three companies share the same forms, numbering and version rules. Staff document work without doubting which version is current.
Send ZES the list of certificates each company holds and one sample form from each. We reply within one working day.

Costs, timing and the audit.
Short answers for Singapore business owners and managers. For a step-by-step overview, read how to get ISO 9001 certified in Singapore.
What is ISO 9001 and why would a buyer ask for it?
ISO 9001:2015 sets requirements for a Quality Management System. An independent certification body audits the system before issuing a certificate. In Singapore, the certificate is commonly requested for tender shortlisting, MNC vendor onboarding and main-contractor pre-qualification.
How much does ISO 9001 certification cost in Singapore?
ZES implementation consultancy starts from $2,288. Certification body Stage 1 and Stage 2 audit fees are separate and typically $2,000 to $4,000 for an SME. The typical first-year total is $4,500 to $9,000, depending on headcount and scope.
How long does ISO 9001 certification take?
Most SMEs working with ZES are certified in two to four months. The timing includes building and using the system, internal audit, and the certification body's Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. Several sites, a broader scope or unavailable staff can add time.
What does my team need to do?
Choose one project contact and make the people responsible for sales, purchasing, delivery or production available to explain their work. Your team confirms the certificate scope, reviews the documents, uses the forms and records in normal work, joins the internal audit and management review, and is available for certification-body interviews. ZES guides the project and prepares the system with you.
What does the certification body do?
An independent accredited certification body, not ZES, audits your Quality Management System and issues the certificate. It reviews documents at Stage 1, then checks implementation at Stage 2 by sampling records and speaking with staff. ZES prepares your documents, internal audit and team briefing. The consultant and certification body must be separate.
What happens if the auditor raises findings?
Your team addresses the findings before certification can be issued. We help you work through the points and prepare the evidence requested by the certification body. The certification body decides when its requirements are met, so we do not promise an audit outcome.
How long is an ISO 9001 certificate valid?
The certificate is valid for three years, with a surveillance audit in each of years two and three and recertification at the end of the cycle. Ongoing support is optional and starts from $1,888.
